Cashmere is the soft undercoat of cashmere goats. The goats reside in the high plateau stretching from northern China into Mongolia. Because of the extreme cold conditions, a soft, silky warm layer, cashmere, is developed beneath the goat’s outer coarse hair layer. The cashmere insulates the goat from the extreme coldness.
